It is a profound honor to serve as the President of the National Conference of Puerto Rican Women (NACOPRW) Northern Illinois Chapter. We stand at a pivotal moment of change, and my commitment is to ensure our organization remains a steadfast pillar of strength, advocacy, and excellence for Puerto Rican women across our region.
Our vision is rooted in the transformative power of intentional community investment. As President, I am dedicated to fostering strategic growth and cross-sector collaboration to elevate our mission. We aren't just preserving our history; we are actively building the infrastructure that allows our community to thrive in every arena from education, healthcare, law, to the trades and beyond.
Our strength lies in our collective expertise. From our veteran leaders to our emerging scholars, we represent a multidisciplinary powerhouse of talent. To realize our vision of Empowering Our Heritage and Engineering Our Future, our focus is centered on three core pillars:
Professional Advancement: Scaling mentorship and training initiatives to ensure our members are leaders in every sector of the economy.
Strategic Partnerships: Strengthening alliances with public and private institutions to amplify our collective voice and impact.
Sustainable Infrastructure: Enhancing our organizational capacity to support our chapters and members for generations to come.
True empowerment requires both a deep love for our community and a disciplined strategy for growth. Together, we will build a legacy that honors the resilience of our ancestors while fiercely advocating for the advancement of Puerto Rican women today and tomorrow.
I am privileged to lead an exceptional board: Susana Gonzalez (Vice President), Hillie Gonzalez (Secretary), and Maritza Ocasio (Treasurer). Driven by our love for the Island and a passion for serving Northern Illinois, we are proud to be writing the next chapter of our story together.

Es un profundo honor servir como Presidenta del Capítulo del Norte de Illinois de la Conferencia Nacional de Mujeres Puertorriqueñas (NACOPRW). Nos encontramos en un momento decisivo de cambio, y mi compromiso es asegurar que nuestra organización continúe siendo un pilar firme de fortaleza, defensa y excelencia para las mujeres puertorriqueñas en toda nuestra región.
Nuestra visión está arraigada en el poder transformador de la inversión comunitaria intencional. Como Presidenta, me dedico a fomentar el crecimiento estratégico y la colaboración intersectorial para elevar nuestra misión. No solo estamos preservando nuestra historia; estamos construyendo activamente la infraestructura que permite que nuestra comunidad prospere en todos los ámbitos: desde la educación, la atención médica y el derecho, hasta los oficios y más allá.
Nuestra fortaleza reside en nuestra experiencia colectiva. Desde nuestras líderes veteranas hasta nuestras académicas emergentes, representamos una potencia multidisciplinaria de talento. Para hacer realidad nuestra visión de Empoderar Nuestra Herencia y Diseñar Nuestro Futuro, nuestro enfoque se centra en tres pilares fundamentales:
Desarrollo Profesional: Ampliar iniciativas de mentoría y capacitación para asegurar que nuestras integrantes sean líderes en todos los sectores de la economía.
Alianzas Estratégicas: Fortalecer colaboraciones con instituciones públicas y privadas para amplificar nuestra voz y nuestro impacto colectivo.
Infraestructura Sostenible: Fortalecer nuestra capacidad organizacional para apoyar a nuestros capítulos y miembros por generaciones.
El verdadero empoderamiento requiere tanto un profundo amor por nuestra comunidad como una estrategia disciplinada de crecimiento. Juntas, construiremos un legado que honre la resiliencia de nuestras ancestras mientras defendemos con firmeza el avance de las mujeres puertorriqueñas hoy y en el futuro.
Tengo el privilegio de liderar una junta directiva excepcional: Susana González (Vicepresidenta), Hillie González (Secretaria) y Maritza Ocasio (Tesorera). Impulsadas por nuestro amor por la Isla y una profunda vocación de servicio al Norte de Illinois, estamos orgullosas de escribir juntas el próximo capítulo de nuestra historia.
